Obstetric & Gynaecology

Every woman deserves healthcare that understands her — at every stage of life. At Apex Balaji Hospital, Greater Noida, our Obstetrics & Gynaecology department offers complete, compassionate care for women from adolescence through pregnancy and beyond.

Obstetric & Gynaecology

What is Obstetrics & Gynaecology?

Obstetrics is the branch of medicine that takes care of women during pregnancy, childbirth, and the period after delivery.

Gynaecology deals with the health of the female reproductive system — including the uterus, ovaries, fallopian tubes, cervix, and vagina — outside of pregnancy.

Together, these two specialities cover a woman's complete reproductive and hormonal health across her entire lifetime.

Our team of experienced gynaecologists and obstetricians at Apex Balaji Hospital provide a safe, private, and supportive environment where women can speak freely and receive the best possible care.

Our Obstetrics & Gynaecology Services

  • Vaccinations during pregnancy (Tetanus, Flu)
  • Birth planning and preparation counselling

Delivery & Labour Care

We provide a safe and supportive environment for childbirth — whether normal or caesarean.

  • Normal Vaginal Delivery — We encourage and support natural birth wherever it is safe for mother and baby
  • Painless Delivery (Epidural) — Labour pain management for mothers who choose it
  • Caesarean Section (C-Section) — Performed when medically necessary, by experienced surgeons in a fully equipped operation theatre
  • Emergency Obstetric Care — Available 24/7 for complications during labour or delivery

Our delivery suites are designed to be comfortable, private, and fully equipped to handle any situation that may arise.

Postnatal Care (After Delivery)

Care does not stop after the baby is born. Our team supports new mothers through:

  • Post-delivery recovery and monitoring
  • Breastfeeding guidance and lactation support
  • Wound care after normal delivery or C-section
  • Screening for postpartum depression
  • Newborn health check and vaccination guidance
  • Contraception counselling after delivery

Gynaecology Services

Menstrual Health

Many women suffer silently from menstrual problems without knowing that effective treatment is available. We treat:

  • Irregular periods — Infrequent, very frequent, or unpredictable cycles
  • Heavy menstrual bleeding (Menorrhagia) — Bleeding that is too heavy or lasts too long
  • Painful periods (Dysmenorrhoea) — Severe cramps that interfere with daily life
  • Absent periods (Amenorrhoea) — No periods for 3 months or more
  • Premenstrual Syndrome (PMS)

Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS)

PCOS is one of the most common hormonal conditions affecting women of reproductive age in India. Symptoms include irregular periods, weight gain, acne, excess facial hair, and difficulty getting pregnant.

Our doctors provide a personalised PCOS management plan including lifestyle guidance, hormonal treatment, and fertility support where needed.

Uterine & Ovarian Conditions

  • Uterine fibroids — Non-cancerous growths in the uterus that can cause heavy bleeding and pelvic pain
  • Ovarian cysts — Fluid-filled sacs on the ovaries, which may need monitoring or treatment
  • Endometriosis — A painful condition where tissue similar to the uterine lining grows outside the uterus
  • Uterine polyps — Small growths inside the uterus that can affect periods and fertility

Infections & Vaginal Health

  • Vaginal infections (bacterial vaginosis, yeast infections, STIs)
  • Pelvic inflammatory disease (PID)
  • Urinary tract infections (UTIs) — very common in women
  • Cervical infections and cervicitis

Menopause Care

Menopause is a natural phase of life, but it can bring uncomfortable symptoms — hot flushes, mood changes, sleep disturbances, vaginal dryness, and bone loss. Our gynaecologists provide:

  • Evaluation and diagnosis of menopausal symptoms
  • Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) guidance
  • Bone health screening (osteoporosis prevention)
  • Emotional and mental wellbeing support

Family Planning & Contraception

We offer complete, non-judgmental guidance on all contraceptive options:

  • Oral contraceptive pills
  • Intrauterine devices (IUD / Copper-T)
  • Injectable contraceptives
  • Permanent sterilisation (tubectomy / laparoscopic sterilisation)
  • Emergency contraception counselling

Fertility & Conception Support

If you have been trying to conceive without success, our gynaecologists can help identify possible causes and guide you through initial fertility evaluation and treatment options.

Gynaecological Procedures

Our department is equipped for a range of diagnostic and minor surgical procedures, including:

  • Pap Smear — A simple, painless test to screen for cervical cancer. Recommended for all women above 21 years.
  • Colposcopy — Closer examination of the cervix when a Pap smear shows abnormal results
  • Hysteroscopy — A thin camera inserted into the uterus to examine the uterine cavity
  • Dilatation & Curettage (D&C) — A procedure to remove tissue from inside the uterus, used for diagnosis or treatment

Frequently Asked Questions

When should I have my first gynaecology check-up?
Ideally, every woman should have her first gynaecology visit between the ages of 13–15, or when she becomes sexually active. After that, a routine annual check-up is recommended for all adult women.
How often should I get a Pap smear?
Women aged 21 and above should get a Pap smear every 3 years. If combined with an HPV test, it can be done every 5 years. Your doctor will advise based on your history.
Is normal delivery possible after a C-section?
In many cases, yes. This is called VBAC (Vaginal Birth After Caesarean). Whether it is safe for you depends on several factors. Our obstetricians will evaluate your case and advise you on the safest option.
What is the right time to see a doctor during pregnancy?
As soon as you get a positive pregnancy test — ideally within the first 6–8 weeks. Early antenatal care helps identify and manage any risk factors right from the beginning.
Can PCOS affect my ability to get pregnant?
PCOS can make it harder to conceive because of irregular ovulation, but it does not mean infertility. With the right treatment and lifestyle changes, many women with PCOS conceive successfully. Our doctors will guide you through your options.
Is it normal to have pain during periods?
Mild cramping is normal, but severe pain that interferes with your daily activities is not. It could be a sign of endometriosis, fibroids, or another treatable condition. Please consult our gynaecologist.
